When we first start practicing yoga and hold a posture we are not used to, we feel challenged and our muscles begin to tense up. With repeated practice we can learn to relax the tense muscles, breath and allow the challenge to pass us by. Practicing yogasana allows us to learn how to become physically present with ourselves, find relaxation and acceptance while holding an asana, yogic posture.

We can then apply the same approach to life off the yoga mat. Life is filled with challenging and difficult situations which cause us to become tense. Once we know how to be present with ourselves through practicing yogasana, we can bring these mindfulness moments with ourselves anywhere and everywhere. We can apply the same breathing practices to relax the tensed up muscles. We can apply the same mindset to approach the new challenges and handle conflict. Again with practice, we can learn to be physically present with ourselves, find relaxation and acceptance while living life.
